Oh, what is in a word

What is in a word you say?
Is a word more than just thoughts that come out of our mouths without thinking?
Are our words carefully choosen to direct the thoughts of others?
Mackenzie was getting ready for school last week.
Her Mother(me!) was getting dressed in the living room so as not to wake the rest of the house.
Now, are you ready?
S--(pulling on a upper old, comfy pair of stretch pants)
M--"mom, those pants fit you good. Are they dad's pants?"
(implying a size difference in daddy and mommy's growing body)
S--"no honey, I have had these pants since you were in my tummy! I wore them with Luke too"
M--(shrug)
S--"Look, my new t-shirt fits good too!" (pulling at the extra material on the sides of the middle)
(I got a t-shirt from the youth room the night before without trying it on. Mackenzie was with me)
M--"No mom, it bunches at the bottom."
(noticing the extra material that gathers at the top of my hips, under my expanding belly)
S--"No, see, if I pull it down, it is too long. It pulls on my thighs. (flexing my legs) See, My thighs have lots of muscle!"
M--"No mom, that is another word for FAT"
S--"No honey, my legs are very strong, see (kicking the air)"
M--"whatever, sure, mom"
What a great way to start the day!
