My first time
Hey all,
been a while!
I finally did it. I RAN OUT OF GAS. My first time ever. I did make it to 30 1/2!
Yes, I had all three kids (Mackenzie, Luke and my niece, Coralyn) strapped in the car on our way to take Mackenzie to school this morning. I knew I needed gas ON THE WAY to school and there is a gas station just on the other side of the overpass bridge.
If only I could get to the top of the bridge, I could coast down the rest of the hill.
Sure enough, I did not make the top of the hill by just 25 yards.
NO, there was NO pushing the car up that hill.
It was drizzling and the temperature was dropping from 44 down. The wind chill was more like 38. I got the packing blankets out of the trunk. Luke was only half way dressed with no shoes on his feet. I did grab me a coat on the way out the door so I could get gas on the way to school.
I pulled over to the side of the road just in time, but not all the way out of the road.
I called a friend, her husband was already at work but she knew where the gas can was and came to rescue me. (Pregnant friend with at 2 year-old in tow!!!)
PRAISE THE LORD FOR FRIENDS!
We listened to Praise Music (and prayed I did not run down the battery!)
The kids did great. They had two baby dolls and between the 3 of them they had a great time rocking the car and laughing about the adventure.
I did not lose my patience with them and YES, I did cry for a minute.
A nice dad-type guy stopped and checked on me. He was driving a big pickup so he stayed behind me with his flashers on so I would not get hit. It was really foggy!!!
We put a little gas in, got Mackenzie to school (only 34 minutes after 8) and got a tank full of gas.
Yes, Mom, I learned my lesson, I hope.
Thank you Lord for keeping us safe and thank you for friends with gas cans.
